Not quite stone, but advice needed!
Quoting maureen thompson <maureen@---------------- >:
Quoted text begins.Did anyone ever respond to Kathy's email? I'm going
over the weeks responses and I'm not seeing any advice
to her. All I can say is that the idea of putting
lettering into concrete rubble isn't a pleasant one.
End of quote.
Thanks for responding. Unfortunately we were limited by the professor to
wood, steel, or concrete. I want to use recycled materials in my
design/building, along with stonework (that's how I found the list) so decided
to choose the concrete as apparently there is much going to the landfill. The
lettering was just a thought, something to add interest to the project. I also
thought it might be possible to work a small stone piece into the interior of a
concrete "shell" or something of that nature. Just kind of winging it. I am
wanting an excuse to start to work in stone sooner than later! We haven't
started the project yet, looks like next weekend. I did get a response from a
local stone person inviting me to her studio for some tutelage. That's greatly
appreciated and I'm planning to call her tomorrow to arrange a time.
You all are so sharing with your expertise, I thought that some of the tools
and techniques might just transfer from one material to the other.
Thanks for any advice. It's great to learn from you all!
Kathy
