rebar
Quoted text begins. I'm far from an expert in this and really can't say. I know some
time ago lead was used.
End of quote.
The Greeks pinned together the columns and headers of the Parthenon
with forged bi-metal pins that were encapsulated in molten lead.
I don't know if this method has a name, but it lasts for centuries.
I myself have been using stainless pins on limestone veneer for 30 yrs.
This is the acceptable industry standard. I've removed stonework from
50 year old buildings that were held by stainless straps and pins.
It is extremely rare to find any spalling or joint failure in these anchor
areas.
Stainless is the cheapest, strongest and the most reliable in my book.
