Stainless steel fixings
Simon ... could you give me a reference for the 'ceramic' info?
That's totally new to me. Stainless will rust when there is no free
oxygen present to form the oxide, such as could be the case when
covered by epoxy. Normally this will not happen since other
conditions ... presence of H2O ... prevent it. And water generally
contains enough free oxygen to maintain the chromium oxide.
Abrading the oxide when there is no free oxygen present can lead to
rust, but not 'will' lead to rust. And don't combine stainless with
bronze.
