Hi Marc...
The Greeks used the bi- metal/lead connectors for centuries, and it worked
excellently until WWI & II when the lead was harvested for bullets. They
replaced the lead later with iron and steel "staples?" The Athens Acropolis
and other sites are scarred with ferris oxide stains from this stupidity.
They did a lot of experimentation in the pre Doric and early Doric periods
with different materials, but the bi metal/lead method worked brilliantly.
