Cool fresh start
Hello,my name is:
Bob Hackett from Boothbay Maine USA.
When I built yachts I was "the metal man",now that I build navy destroyers
I'm a "shipfitter" in order to pay the bills.
I was introduced to woodworking by my father and woodturning and stonework
by my brother who holds a PHD in vulcanology. You can see some of my
woodturnings at www.saltrivergallery.com. Click on owners, then my name.
My stoneworking includes dry stack stone walls to include stone cutting,
landscaping with stone to include simple sculpture and using stone slabs in
furniture. I'm presently working on a way to turn granite like I turn
wood. Simon has been kind enough to help point me in the right direction.
I hope to bring to the table(this is a dinner party, isn't it?) my experience
as a rigger, toolmaker, metalworker, woodworker, infantryman, craftsman,
boatbuilder, oilfield roughneck and anything else I can contribute to help
liven things up. In return I plan to extract as much fun, adventure,
experience, and fine discussion as I can from you folks. So far I don't see
any way I can even things out on my end but that won't stop me from
trying(or occasionally standing on my chair and singing bawdy marching
songs).
Happy to be invited to the party,
Bob
