A fresh start is a great idea!
George Graham here.

I've been fascinated with stones for as long as I can remember. It started
with fossils, which led to breaking stones to see what was inside. At the
same time I was always carving something out of wood, letter openers , crude
faces and heads. After I tried to decorate some molding inside the family
home, I was encourage to carve on firewood! In the 10th grade I carved a
head from oak, showed my art teacher, and got an A . That's when I realized
that my carvings might interest other people. In 1976 I took a sculpture
class in a community college and was forever hooked on stone carving. I
never could stay in one place long enough to get a degree at any college,
but I learned all I could on stone, every chance I had. Having the use of
the college studio kept me in school until 1979. Then the wandering about
the country started again. But not for long! Met the right girl, started a
family, and stumbled into the monument industry, where I got a real
education of stone carving, and was paid at the same time. I had the great
fortune to work with real masters of the trade.

After 20 years of dividing my energy between monument work and doing my own
art, I've realized a long dream of having my own studio, and doing my art
full time. So I'm doing the best work of my life, and making a lot less
money. Here's where I always say, thank god my wife has a real job. We have
just gotten a web site up for all to see. It's
http://www.grahamsculpturestudio.com. We just finished a major improvement,
and invite you all to check it out. I'm planning on using it as a fancy
business card when I'm talking to potential customers.

I always look forward to the conversations on this list. Learning from
others is the way I learn, and I like to share what I know. I've never
participated on other forum's, so I don't have anything to compare this
with. I do know that varity is the spice of life, and we have it here, and
I love it!

Thanks,
George Graham
