Cool fresh start
Hi all,
The temptation to talk about myself is just too great ("Now that I've told
you all about myself, what do you think about me?" - as the old joke goes
:-)
I am 39. a Registered Nurse (educator) who lives in Queensland, Australia.
Have a husband, two kids and white marble powder all over the yard :-)
I am a real "newbie" to carving - ie of 4 months? - , although wanted to do
it for years. I carved one little peice of sandstone, then went, nope,
marble is what I want to carve. So that is what I am doing :-) Its
interesting to hear how others are "working their way up" to marble
carving... but I decided it's what I really wanted to do, so I did it (some
might say that is typical Aries behaviour)
Many happy hours have been spent previously wandering through museums /
ruins / outdoor locations etc etc in Europe / England (esp Greece - 3
months).
So it is a real thrill to do it myself... Fortunately I have "mellowed" a
bit in the last couple of months. I was a bit obsessive - ie with most spare
moments thinking of getting back to bashing away *grin* I prefer peices of
marble which I can manouvre myself... maybe working on bigger peices when I
am happy with my skills - and get better organised!
I am more at the asking questions stage... my major "knowledge" in regard
to carving relates to mythology / ancient history / pre Christian themes. I
thoroughly enjoy reading about all the "technical stuff", which has really
broadened my learning.
Regards to all!
Sandra
