Subject: cool fresh start

I am Dulce, born in Barcelona, Spain and living in Miami since 1982. I have
always loved art and my father - oil painting- had a great influence in my
view of the world as shapes and colors, shades and shadows.
I loved to draw and charcoal was always my favorite. I tried Interior
Design, and I loved it, however it didn't give me enough artistic creation.
I wanted to have all the freedom to design , but designers need to consider
the customer's wants, so I started to attend classes, nude drawing and
sculpture.
I did some metal and it wasn't my thing-unless I mix it with stone-did some
plaster and I discovered direct sculpting and its magic.I never thought a
rock could give me such sensual feelings, the smell, the texture, the
colors, the discovering of its secrets. Now I am in love with stone and that
is what I want to do until my fingers fall from my hands........
I have been very stressed out with the 4 hurricanes scares- we have been
lucky not to be affected, but the preparations for the 4 of them in 6weeks
has made sculpting impossible. I had to dismantle my canopy and put all
tools, tables, stones and sculptures inside my garage and I cannot work. I
cant wait for the dry season so I can do what I love. I have so many ideas
my head is bursting and I need to sculpt.
Isn't sculpting the best? relaxing, inspiring, fulfilling and rewarding,
even if the end result is not as magnificent as we wish and we are always
covered with stone dust....
Love to all,
Dulce Maria Rico
