Subject: Cool fresh start (personal intro)

I'll introduce myself as I have enjoyed reading from others.

I've been carving in stone for some 4 years. I enjoy local limestone
(Ontario, Canada) and marble. My current themes seem to be
archetypal: mother and child, the death muse. I work with hand tools
at present though a grinder is on the horizon.

I also work in wood and installed an eight-foot "Endless Form" at our
gardens this summer, my tribute to Constantin Brancusi.

I am a poet (first book 2001) and at times I feel I live mostly in
literature. This summer I finished a career in clinical Gestalt
psychotherapy; I am continuing some teaching and writing in the
overlap between models of Gestalt therapy and creative process.
Gestalt theory and practice is a great map for the art road - based on
our five (maybe six!) modes of perception and the flow of foreground /
background in the creation of images.

My wife operates a wholesale perennial nursery and we have many
gardens and love having people come and enjoy our grounds. I have
learned much through this list and appreciate the specific responses
to the few questions which I posed. I also like folks' more general
comments, thoughts, even poems, about living and working along the
rocky art road.

Indeed, as someone else said, it's a real community of sorts. And if
you are through eastern Ontario sometime, I would enjoy meeting you.
