I'm very interested in the composition of the
"world" of glances feelings and meanings. The tissue of
sensation.
I recently read that Plato believed the human eye sent out "rays" that
touched objects, then returned with information to the eye. Aristotle thought
this notion was silly as we couldn't send rays far enough to touch the stars.
Recent studies on proteins would suggest it is in fact a combination of the
two; we do not "see" actual objects, we actually "feel" the photons reflected
by objects as they enter the eye and stimulate or "touch" receptors that are
in fact modified touch-sensation receptors.
If we could all concentrate sufficiently during our daydreams perhaps we
could project those photons back onto raw materials with enough force to do the
carving, welding, etc., without moving more than our eye muscles?!
