Interesting to see the
evolution of the work over the
years, from
freestanding pieces to more of
an earthwork or landscapish
thing.
Yes, Bill. It doesn't seem to me that contemporary
Japanese carvers have gone to ground. I wish I had more
sight of what contemporary European carvers are up to. It
is exciting to see all the exuberance of the 60's. I
don't know what you call all that plump protuberance.
Kinda saucy. Great variety of form as well, a bestiary
of sorts.
I also want to mention this site
http://www.ukishima.net/
Great work also a delightful and extensive picture/caption
diary of the days and nights of two very busy and
successul young proffessional stone sculptors. A mix of
family, friends and work. All nighter's to met deadlines,
parties after meeting them. Life very fully and joyfully
lived and built around family and work. If I ever knew,I
had forgotten life can be lived in such bright luminence.
Inspiring.
Bill
