encyclopedia of stone sculpture
Norman, thats a great letter. The organic exuberance of
the 60s work is perhaps not happening now. Things have
changed in the world and in the experiences of upbringing.
Elucidating the changes that have taken place in
sculpture is some what tricky. I would say that the 60s
work has an amplitude to it, a sense of optimistic
abundance. It is harder to get a sense of the present. I
can only think of indidual works and they don't congeal
into an overview where I can get a sense of the larger
shared characteristics. But I would like to work on it
and develop a more vibrant sense of the present day scene.
Some may say that things are scattered and isolated and
diverse, but I would think we are all captive to
contemporary value and unconcious frames of reference that
is is not give to us to know until years have passed...
Still, won't somebody tell me what the heck is going on!
More pictures!
Bill, Thanks for the Randall-Page. Yes, what else you got?
