utah translucent calcite
Back when I used to be involved in the polishing of marble floors, the
industry standard was to complete the honing prep (The darker the stone, the
more thorough the prep), and then start polishing with a mixture of 20%
oxalic acid and 80% tin oxide as a starting ratio. The mix could be
adjusted as necessary, depending on the stone, but we tended to rely more on
the mild abrasive than the acid component of the mix for an effective
result, to minimize acid residue. Serium oxide is another mild abrasive
that can be used.
