Bush hammer or pneumatic point
Bill,
regarding the pointed hand hammer, I've got the japanese version of a hand
set that is the same style. I've used it and found it to be a real
challenge, after using western style chisels for many years. I guess the
point is to keep your hands out of harm's way, but it seemed to require to
much thinking to get the tool in place, and then make a good hit. The
process slowed me down, BUT,,, I might get one just because it looks
awesome!
A pneumatic point , seems to me, only works on soft stone with any
effectiveness. I don't think I'm strong enough to manhandle a 20 lb air
hammer just to make a point plow through granite. I'm getting lazy in my
golden years, and I'd be looking for my grinder and diamond blade to make
some parallel cuts!
Keep carving anyway that works!
