Subject: Introducing myself

Hi everyone, I am a mason, carver and stone conservator and have worked
with limestone for the past 25 years mainly on English Cathedrals -
Canterbury, Rochester, Wells, Exeter and Salisbury. Four years ago I
started making my own stone sculpture and carvings in my Somerset
studio (bent hazelwood and canvas construction) and have had three
local exhibitions of my work. My main influences are mediaeval
Romanesque sculpture and stone carvings from ancient India. I carve
relief trees, leaf forms, flowers, shells, spirals and various natural
geometric forms. I have also carved a life size Buddha statue for a
London Buddhist centre following the traditional Tibetan proportion
system.

My best wishes to everyone and I look forward to joining in the
discussions.

By the way I have a sister who lives in Claremont L.A. who I will be
visiting next year so I would be delighted to meet any L.A. stone
carvers whilst I am there.

Nick Durnan, Somerset, U.K.
