cutting gold leaf
I'm in the process of gilding some slate. I'm using brand new,
single-sided razor blades but the leaf sticks to them rather than
cutting cleanly. Its actually easier to just tear the leaf with a soft
brush and my cloth-gloved fingers. This works well except I only need
small pieces of leaf and tearing is a bit wasteful. The problem doesn't
seem to be static charging. Any ideas on the sticking, or do I need a
gilders knife?
