yes, this happened early on when I was trying to size one evening and
then gild the next evening after coming home from work. Too long. The
leaf stuck poorly at the root of the cut (why more poorly there than at
the upper edge is not clear). But if I size in the morning (6:00) then
its ready to gild when I get home at 7:00. This works well and the
results look pretty good.
The attempts to 'burnish' oil-sized surfaces are completely separate
and just an exercise to see how things work, or don't!
