website question
Hi all;
Given the amount of discussion the website question has generated, I
thought I'd add a link I found the shows how NOT to do things . . .
http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com
Yes the guy is selling a couple of books on the subject, but he also has
lots of good advice about BAD design, and a number of links to free
services and tools that you might find useful if you are trying to do the
website building yourself..
He will give you a free QuickScan -- 10-page site check for bloated and
duplicate images that slow Web page loading.

My own site doesn't fare as well as I'd like (actual loading time for my
home page over a 56k connection was 33-plus seconds, and according to
their scan my optimal loading time should only be 19-plus seconds. I
was already in the process of revamping and optimizing the images when I
found this site with the free tool links, so this gave the work a bit
more priority than before.
Good optimizing to you,
Don
