site optimization
Greetings Carvers, Thanks to Don for providing that site optimization
info. Just out of curiosity, I ran scans on both my art site and my lab
site and the lab site fared much better (~25% bloat)than the art site
(44% bloat). The main difference between the sites is the number of
large scans -- I have much larger scans on the art site so the viewer
can get a good idea of what the sculpture/paintings actually look like.
My guess is that the Opti-scan program is designed for business not
art-size images and therefore a good art site (one with images that
actually let you see the piece) is automatically going to be called
bloated. Don, it will be interesting to see the before and after
ratings for your site, but my prediction is that there won't be a huge
amount of difference uunless your code is super sloppy. The bloat will
be in the scans, which you probably won't change by much if they're not
already huge. YMMV. cheers, g
