Megapoxy for limestone blocks / respirators
Carbon filters work in a fundamentally different way than dust masks or a respirator fitted with particle filters. The carbon in an organic vapor cartridge
has been "activated" (roasted so that it is now extremely absorbent) so that chemical vapors will be absorbed out of the air on its way through the
cartridge. One of the neglected issues with carbon filters is that they must be fresh to be effective. Once taken out of their packaging, they proceed to
mop up stray fumes from the air whether you are wearing them or not. So their capacity can become exhausted while sitting on a shelf. If your work usually
involves dust alone and you use volatile solvents or resins only occasionally, the carbon filters should be double bagged in plastic or stored in a sealed
jar when not in use to keep them from being spent by the time you really need them.

Quoted text begins. What is this about carbon elements for the respirator? Could you please elaborate on that. I'm always interested in information on breathing protection.
