Subject:
drying linseed oil/turpentine finish
I have a piece of slate that I have treated with the usual 50:50 boiled
linseed oil/turpentine mixture. Unlike other pieces which turned out
essentially flawless, this one has areas that don't seem to dry well.
Granted, I applied the finish on a day with higher humidity but even
several hours under a lamp haven't set it up properly. It still dulls
if buffed with a soft cloth. Any advice on drying it? Or stripping it
(I'd rather avoid going back to sanding down to a new layer but may
have to)?
