Quoted text begins.with carving you have to make a draft and a commision will decide if
it can be accepted as a masterpiece. If it has been accepted you have
80 hours to finish the piece. If your masterpiece is a sculptor you have
to show also in a 2 days workshop your skills as a stonemason and vice versa.
The masterexam will finish with an oral test ( 1-2 hours ) where you will
get the final note
End of quote.

Hi Birgit, welcome to the discussion group.

Thanks for the information about Master Stonemasons in Germany.

In Australia, while there is no requirement for a masterclass certificate,
Stonemasons must have a Trade Contractors Licence if they are carrying out
building work. This requires completion of a Trade Certificate in Stonemasonry
plus managerial qualifications and financial guarantees. The licensing is
authorised by the Building Services Authority in each state:
http://www.bsa.qld.gov.au/scripts/classes.exe?id=179

The Stonemasonry qualification in Australia is part of the national training
system, it requires 41 skills to be demonstrated before a Certificate III in
Stonemasonry (BCF30600)is awarded.

Packaging rules for BCF30600: pages 21-22
http://www.ntis.gov.au/~ntis2/pdf_files/bcf00rul.pdf

BCF30600 skills are drawn from the training package BCF00 Off-site Construction:
http://www.ntis.gov.au/cgi-bin/waxhtml/~ntis2/pkg.wxh?page=82&inputRef=146

Currently, stone sculpture has no place in the Stonemasonry qualification
as it exists in Germany. Please forgive me for chewing your ear off in reply
to your first posting, but we have a lot to learn from the examples you
have presented.

Regards,
Simon
