Hi Simon, Bernd,

Simon, sorry for my silly writing, I did not mean to imply
contention with you but with the Rovai text!. Bernd, I am
pretty ok with 1:1 reproduction, its the caliper
enlargement which so effortlessly eludes me. Simon I was
sincerely hoping you might have knowledge of the process.
If it were of easy use it seems it might be very helpful
perhaps especially if used in a somewhat loose manner. I
am discouraged, Simon that you could not put the missing
pieces in to make the Rovai diagrams add up. It is not a
big deal. I would hope that it might be simple and reduce
to a principle but it eludes me. My native understanding
is that the intersection of the arcs of two calipers
describe a line. The intersection of the arc of a third
caliper would indicate a point on that line. This is
where I stop because I can't hold three calipers! I can
only think that either caliper enlargement is somewhat
complex or if not that then Rovai is an EXTREMELY poor
explicator. I might think to purchase the Cami book, but
might think again because it did not succeed in lighting
your brain bulb.

In the measuring work that I have done with a live model
into clay I can only say that in the complex terrain of
the human form the eye is an erratic geometer, and that
the only path to correctness of form is through
quantatative measure. Of course it goes without saying
that this is a tedious process, but it has the serenity of
certitude, and certitude would be desirable over all other
concerns when executing an enlargement.

I'm getting windy here so i'll stop, but thanks Simon and
Bernd,

Bill
