Local stone in North Carolina
Good Luck Gary,
Speaking of free at hand stone,if you ever get a taste for
the obdurate but beguiling Rhyolite we have a supply of a
fascinating variety of color and grain. Rhyolite, I
suppose, is a cousin of basalt but is perhaps closer to
glass or obsidian. We've got purple rhyolite with chunks
of green and differently grained purple. Also in reds
and greens and can run to black. The variety of grain and
color is stupendous. Lavender is on of my favorites. I
don't know what puddingstone is, but I would like to call
it that for all the colorful raisins inculded in its
matix. Glorious and generally free for the asking. I am
proud of my local, difficult and enchanting stone. I have
yet to do more than polish, but the resource beckons and
promises.
Bill from Missouri
