Subject: pointing machine

i saw this machine in action in pietrasanta, and the owner was
extremely proud of it, YUCH! it is incredible how well it copies
anything, and so sad that it's yet another invention meant to destroy
hand-made art, and take the life out of marble work - maybe i'm getting
too old, but seems more and more often i'm blaming new inventions for
changing our lives, and not necessarily for the better ...

i learned how to do marble "intarsia" work in italy - it's incredibly
time consuming, and detailed work, but so fulfilling and absorbing and
exciting - however it's almost impossible to sell any of my work
because there are now "machines" that can do it faster, cheaper,
larger, and so few buyers who appreciate the difference the human touch
can make, sigh! ...

Quoted text begins.Yep, They are all the rage now in the industry. 4axis multihead
CNC machines. For a mear $100,000 plus you too can take all the
heart and soul out of your carving.
