Soulless?
Bob, and all
hey, this is a great discussion EVEN IF I cannot access (and view)
the considered piece (because of a 6yr old ancient operating.sys on my
computer)
I like your comments especially George, as well as Clive and Bill.
the INTENTION of art is the core for me, never the process. I like
your comment, Bob, that a copied piece....
Quoted text begins.[snip].....still pales in comparison to the original. Even if the level of
craftsmanship exceedes the original ....
End of quote.
here is a brief statement by Leonard Baskin, which captures this
"intention" for me....:
"The act of becoming an artist is nothing more than the transference
of influence into the unique voice, the emerging of self."
each of us, individually, mixes up a unique concoction of influences
into a personal voice. and it is the chorus of art voices to helps
us humans along the open road.
quoting you further, Bob:
Quoted text begins. While I personally cannot see myself doing CNC work and attempting to pass
it off as original art I can more easily get my mind around it than I can
cutting up farm animals and encasing them [snip} ....
....symbols and having the nerve to hang a price tag on it.
End of quote.
your last line slays me :o) !!
Quoted text begins.I do kind of like that urinal thing though.
End of quote.
I appreciate your unique voice here on the list, Bob, many times,
and everyone else's as well!
happy new 2005 dust and chips to all!
Oscar
