George,

I'm glad you said that. I was starting to find it rather
disturbing. If I were with you in a room, I probably
wouldn't say boo. I try to say nothing negative, but then
I find myself gainsaying John for absoletly no good reason
at all after he has made such a wonderful, humble
statement. I felt badly afterwords. I certainly did not
mean to set people on edge, and I'll say again that I am
very happy to read your positive feed back. I want to
know nothing. To claim no truth. To prevail over no one.
I don't want to be in comparison. I certainly don't want
to be stupid or publicly weird. I so much enjoy your
company, though I fear it as well. Thank you for taking
up the discussion in what I personally find to be of
interest and I am pleased other found it of interest as
well.

I am also gratified at your response at my unsolicited
mail that I fear might be regarded by persons on the list
to junk. I apologise for sending cryptically titled mail.
But, as I said, George, I'm very thankful for your
inquiry and I am flattered that you would think I had put
great thought into the photos. I must really have you on
edge! I was searching around for some other angle on the
discussion as it was beginned to seem rather unhappily
resolved.
Do you know Helaman Ferguson and the whole genre of math
sculpture? At the bottom of a work he sometimes inscribes
the equation that the work is some how a function of. But
the whole matter concerning Helaman is that his work is
mosty direct carved, though he does make a distintion of
it and does use computer modelling of some stripe. Anyway
Helaman just didn't fit into the discussion so I googled
some on the key words Math and Stone. I wonder what you
wouldn't find with a search of Stone combined with just
about any othe fairly common word. Well I came upon the
Prayer stone and it was like rain on the desert to my
parched eyes. Let the words stop I said to myself. I
shall just look.
The Gravity Restored is a wonderful photo of what looks to
be Georgia's finest, Etowah Fleuri. What a fine hunk.
But what I really liked was the title that came with it,
Gravity Restored, and thought hum yes, this big stone is
on the ground, no doubt about it, Gravity is once again
Restored. I suppose if it were to appear in a publication
that makes light of misprints or odd headlines in obscure
newspapers, my comment would be, "Glad that big stone
finally stopped flying around" It was the best
contribution I could bring for my ending of my part in the
discussion. The inscription on the stone is barely
legible and says something like Gravity Research
Foundation. The stone had been removed to storage for
several years until at the clamor of complaining alumni,
who remembered midnight kisses at its foot, it was
restored to its original setting. I suppose one might say
to one's sweetheart, "I'll see you at Gravity".
Anyway, George, thank you ever so much for asking! And
thank you to all others who were bored, annoyed or
otherwise put out by this big pile of e-mail. Best wishes
and have a fine New Year!

Bill
