It one of the best. Sorry once again. It is from the
most recent issue of Stonenexus, easily found and ordered
on the web. I think individual issues may not be offered,
a subcription being what is offered. If we talk about
Counihan we may fear a thunderbolt from Mr. Tomas Lipps, a
friend of Counihan's. Mr. Lipps probably could rattle our
skys with pronouncements on craft.

George, I'd like three days in Manhatten. Are Christo's
arch banners up yet in the park? Boy the last time I was
there I had shoe problems. And Chicago! Hike Hike Hike.
Late in the weekend, by the time we came to the Art
Institute and its gaspingily sensual carving of Eve, under
the Rodin brand name, that was a mighty fine work of
physical sense and craft, though painstaking measured, I
was ready for the revelations of the buddha, though he did
get to sit while doing his waiting.
So impressed were I with this master's work that I felt
sure that it far outshone any clay squeezing done by boss
Gus. Terrible hard for clay to beat stone, though.
Does anyone know about the Pirricili brothers of the Bronx
(not exactly sure about that) who were responsible for
much vitaliztion in marble of such clay squeezers work as
Daniel Chester French (who may have well carved too, I
don't know). Sculpture Review did a small piece on them.
The craftsmen may by the great masters. But they were
stuck with doing all the pointing, and doing all that
pointing certainly did not take all the heart and soul out
of their carving. Perhaps it was the sufferering to which
their souls gave expression.
Good Morning!
