Subject: stone lions

The stone lions were recently refurbished, restored, or whatever the word is. There was an interesting article about it in the new york times recently, they have been sitting out in the weather for over 100 years.
I agree the Egyptian art at the Met is fascinating, I have seen some of the postings on the methods of stone cutting the ancient Egyptians used here on the stone list but to me it doesn't explain everything. The hardest stone inscribed with hieroglyphics cut so precise that I think it would be hard to match with modern equipment. To my mind they were the masters. If I can toot my own horn for a minute... In Williamsburg, Brooklyn I have a storefront with some of my work in it. 55 Grand street near the east river. L train to Brooklyn, first stop Bedford Ave. It's on a block with 3 galleries and there are many galleries in the neighborhood. I'd be interested in any feedback offered.---
