Quoted text begins.Clive - you are quite right - the Sotomayor piece is schmaltz/soft porn -
so
why didn't I say so at the time? Laziness principally but also because a)
if that's what the guy wants to carve and that's what the people love - so
be it and b) the piece was, I think, introduced to talk about technique
not
content.
End of quote.

The first thing that came to mind while tracking his technique was"Wow,what
control and confidence" immediately followed by"Showoff".
I can think of no other reason to waste so much high quality stone than to
advertise one's own skill.I would have cut away the unneeded stone in blocks
and used it for other projects or started with a rough that more
approximated the finished piece but that's just me.
As to being angry about "Tart on a Stienway" being passed off as "American
Woman".We are American after all, what did you expect? At least Hollywood's
latest spokesmodel isn't seated at the piano.
It is appalling to me just how few American citizens are aware of what is
and is not proper display and handling of the flag which is supposed to be
the embodyment of our great nation. One could make a career of correcting
folks.

Bob
