Suiseki
I carve out bases for suiseki and scholar stones, each one is custom fit
for each stone. The stands can be quite elaborate or plain but the
purpose is not to distract from the stone.
The wooden stands or bases are referred to as 'Dai' or Daiza. The
interpretation of Daiza is a stand specific for the stone it supports.
The sand filled pottery containers are called suiban and can be very
expensive. Metal basins are called Doban.

Quoted text begins.Where can one buy the bases for suiseki stones at wholesale prices? Also
those thin bases that seem filled with sand. Some bases seem custom
carved. How about some more info on bases? Thanks.
End of quote.
