Weight of granite.
Hi John,
I'll give the first response, then others can certainly
improve on it. Granite weighs about 175 pounds a cubic
foot. Others will know more exactly and I would guess
it depends on the type. I've dragged some fairly heavy,
2500 pound blocks out of a trailer using timbers to skid
it on. Chains work. 3/4 inch holes with 3/4 in steel rod
with an eye bent into the end can help you wrangle or
lead it. Have fun. Mind you where I live granite is
cheap. $50 a ton. If it is like that where you are it
might be easier to drive to the quarry than to load
yourself. Mind you they have culls at the quarry for $20
a ton.
