Darrell Petit
Since it was all yeahs and no nieghs I will proceed by
intoducing Darrel Petit to you if you have not already
met. He was a particpant at Aswan in 2003. A bio
describes him as being artist in residence at Stoney Creek
Quarry near Branford Connecticut, a position I of which I
have never before heard. Perhaps he is affiliated with a
college. He has work at Socrates Park in NYC as well as
another park there. I also came across some drawing of
his which is something we may not do enough of as carvers.
His drawings show an interest in the intersection of
texture and geometry but also scale and sensual
involvement. Interestly he also entered a design proposal
for the WTC memorial competition. So it is interesting to
see a stone head at work thinking. The descriptive
drawings leave one at loose ends, though.
