Subject: [stone] Introduction :)

Quoted text begins. As of yet I have yet to carve a piece of stone, that will change in 48
hours :) . I am an art student I could really go for some book
references. I am thinking "Sculpture in stone" by Josepmaria Teixido I
Cami.
End of quote.

Contemporary Stone Sculpture by Dona Z. Meilach is a
good book for beginners. Takes one through the process from
start to finish. Sometimes a copy is up for grabs on eBay.
Also know of a workshop held in New Mexico each year. Will have
to find the particulars (or maybe someone else on the list has
them). Enjoy your carving experience, remember to use
appropriate (for the stone) safety gear, and remember that
stone, like small children, responds to gentle coaxing better
than it does to over powering force.
