Material removal
Have had the opportunity to carve several sinks from cubic
limestone stock. Boxes and bowls shouldn't be much different.
Drill a bunch of holes to the common depth, and break out the
web between holes. Bush chisel or 4 tooth ripper does a good
job. Try and drill the holes as close to each other as
possible. Criss-cross or cup chisel ( check your Trow & Holden
catalogue) can be used to finish taking down the waste, and some
clean up. The bracelet rasp you mentioned is awkward to use,
but I do find that it can be effective...especially if I use it
more as a scraper. Finish work will be rather tedious in a
small cavity.
