Quoted text begins.Do real men work in alabaster?
tom
End of quote.
Hi Tom,
I'll take a piece of that.
I, personally, have not ever touched a piece of alabaster. After this I might run down to the local stone yard and pick up a piece, just to try it out. I've only carved hardstones before. Does that make me a real man?
Some people have a different level of experience that others. Some people are a little more hardcore than others. Some people are only in it for fun.
Who cares why anybody is in it and for what.
I make titanium jewellery as a hobby as well as my sculpture. I have a hard time working with silver because, I find, that it is too soft for me. I do not look down on silver or goldworkers. I wish to learn thier skills as well. To set a gem in titanium is one thing. If you take the same ammount of force and do that with silver or gold you won't have much too look at.
I find that it is a matter if finding the right technique for the matter at hand.
John
