Subject:
Splitting igneous Basalt using wedges and shims.
From: "Sam" <leijen@---------- >
Quoted text begins.I need some help please.
Recently I purchased some "wedges and shims" (w/s) for rock splitting.
I have 4 x 22mm w/s
End of quote.
A prime example why this list should continue.
These are some of the Q?s that will be asked about this one.
What is the size of the stone being split?
How far into the stone did you drill?
A little practice at splitting will have you over coming this proiblem
quite quickly.
Drill into the stone right the way through if possible ( in fact I have
never done it other wise)
The larger the stone the larger the holes and therefore the w/s
A quick guess is that you did not have enough w/s. Regards, turner Bill.
ps A real shame that you drilled them out!!
