Marble Sources In The Great Lakes Region?
Well, you're in luck because the western New England marble belt is nearby. This
runs from Vermont and Western Mass. down into New York City (Sing Sing prison
started out as a quarry site but is otherwise occupied today). The latter is not
a good prospect these days but Danby, Vermont continues to be an important
commercial source. Some back roads driving or consulting old geological survey
maps will lead to quarry sites all over from which abandoned blocks might be had
with the permission of the landowners. The best time of the year is autumn after
leaf fall, or spring before the foliage comes out, blocking the view.

Does anyone know of any sources for marble in/around/near New York or Toronto?
