discs for angle grinders
Norman,
I use 2 grinders for stone work.
1. a 9 amp monster for all the heavy work. RPM's 5000. standard trigger
switch and a 5\8's by 11 arbour that works for all the standard threaded
wheels and saw blades.
2. a 1500 rpm, variable speed buffer by Milwaulkee that also has the 5\8x11
arbour. I can use 7" silicone carbide discs on a flexible pad without
tearing up the discs which happens with the big grinder. I like to polish
with a hard felt wheel, especially with granite. The grinder is powerful
enough to keep turning when I really lean on it to get pressure and heat on
the stone surface.
Both of these tools cost around $200.oo and last for years.
I really like the idea of using the small , cheap 4" grinders to get into
tight places . The light weight sounds good too. When it is worn out, just
replace it with another real cheap one. I see them on sale for around
$30.oo. These grinders don't have the power I need for the heavy work, but
they do have their place!
Good shopping to you,
George Graham
