If I were you, I'd go up to Fort Collins and visit Colorado Alabaster
Supply. You can pick out your own piece of alabaster, and get a basic set of
tools.
Alabastser is perfect for a beginner. Its soft, beautiful, and close by!
I've been carving Colorado pink alabaster for years and never get tired of
it.
The business might be able to put you in touch with a local sculptor that
you could visit.
