What is it that carries your work? (surface pattern and form)
From: "Bob Hackett" <kinfolk@------- >
Quoted text begins.A 6 pound piece from a 97 pound stone?
Heresy!! What happened to being true to the material, the sacredness of
stone?The horror,the horror.;^)
End of quote.
Well.....in my own defense........it wasn't because I'm totally inept or
wasteful......that particular stone was like dust held together by air.
While working on the piece huge chunks would just fall off forcing me to
shift my design onto what was left. Everyone said there was no way I could
get a thin legged, thin necked giraffe out of that powdery stone ......but I
did !
