Homemade Chisels
Hi John,
I'm the 'scrounge hound'.....
Your chisels look great !
For my 7mm air hammer we forged chisels from worn out hay rake teeth. Just
the right size around, tempered steel and FREE...local farmers are thrilled
to get rid of them. I was shown how to heat, pound, shape, heat pound some
more, shape and temper......after one afternoon I had made myself a dozen
chisels, all shapes and sizes. Some work well....some well....not so hot (
the curved one was a total disaster ) But it was fun ! One man's
trash......
I like that...disasterpiece....I think I'm working on one now !!
