a Boulder splitting question
OR
you could rent a cut-off saw with an 18 inch diamond blade and kerf
it. do a series of parallel vertical cuts to the same depth and
about 3 or 4 inches apart. then pop those babies off. a wide wedge
( a splitting maul would work) driven between two sections will cause
one of them to part at the bottom of the cut. others can be removed
by attacking the base of the sections with hammer and chisel.
trying to wedge off the top of an ovoid boulder, well . . .
