While I've never had to glue a piece of alabaster sculpture back together, I have done so with steatite, using Super Glue. This is how it worked for me: Put super glue on both surfaces, press the pieces together & immediately pull them apart (this seals both surfaces), re-apply super glue to both surfaces & press them together again, hold them together for a couple of minutes (giving glue time to set). This worked well on a small steatite panther & the leg of a steatite turtle as well.
