cost of hauling stone
Norman - I know several stonemasons from Charlottesville, VA who claim they
go to the Culpeper granite quarry often to pick through the waste piles and
get Virginia Mist for cheap. Perhaps you could go to the quarry yourself,
pick out a few chunks that would fit in the car and experiment with it to
see if you even like working this particular stone (before purchasing a big
piece). Mind you, this is second hand info and I've never been to this
quarry myself. It may be worth a try.

Quoted text begins.I looked closer into the hauling of a big (e.g. 3-5000 lb) block of
granite from a quarry in VA to my place in MD, a distance of about 80
miles. Originally I was told it would be about $500. After phoning
several places its more like $750.
End of quote.
