saw blades
Norman,
I use both dry and wet blades, but I almost always use them wet. I
started this habit when I worked in an enclosed space that could not
tolerate dust (but could tolerate water) and have kept it up even now
that I can make all the dust that I want. I use air grinders so I
don't have to worry about mixing water and electricity. However, I do
have some electric grinders with center feed water and GFI built in,
and have used other electric grinders plugged into external GFIs.
I like the wet carving because there is no dust, so I typically do not
wear a respirator. I don't think the heat would bother any blades, but
I do find that the blades move much more quickly through the stone when
they are lubricated. There is a heck of a lot of mud on the floor that
I need to clean up every now and then, but that is preferable to dust
on everything in the studio, in my mind.
