Subject: saw blades

Norman,
I use a sintered diamond blade, 10 inches in diameter for all the granite
work, which is not much. The electroplated diamond blade for all the soft
stone gets the most work. I'm amazed at how tough the electroplated blade
is. I've never abused it , so it still cuts marble fast. It looks like the
diamonds would be ground off after the first 5 minutes, but looks are
deceptive. My current blade is over 2 years old.
The diamond blades and coarse carborundum wheels are used the most when I'm
removing a lot of stone and smoothing off an area. They are major time and
work savers for me.
All the sawing and grinding is done dry, because I can. I just work outside
and wear my dust mask and headphones.
The difference in diamond blade prices is related to the percentage of
diamonds in the sintered saws. The more diamonds, the better the cutting,
and of course the price goes up. That's my understanding for what it's
worth.
Have fun!
George Graham
