New subject: how to keep tools in humid enviroment free of rust?
As someone else suggested, follow the lead of welders.
When working at an old time boatyard on the coast of Maine(the weld shop was
on a wood pier over the water in Boothbay Harbor) we kept the opened tins of
weld rods in an old,non working refridgerator(available an any dump or
appliance repair shop for free) with a single 75 watt lightbulb in the
bottom. The bulb produced enough heat to keep the moisture at bay.
Instead of an oil soaked canvas roll for field storage I'd suggest WD40 as a
substitute for oil.I also used to spray WD40 on tools that had been
subjected to salt water to good effect.
