angle grinder size

different size attachments, e.g. cup wheels, to the same grinder?
End of quote.
Norman,
Spindle size is important. I choose 5" grinders over 4" because of their heavier
construction, and similarity in spindle thread size with 7" & 9" grinders. So a
4" or 5" cup stone or diamond shaping wheel with an M14 thread (mild steel, 14mm
hole) will fit all 3 machines. A 4" grinder has an M12 thread and requires a
different coupling.
There are 4" grinders available for about $25 now, so it makes sense to buy a
cheap throwaway machine and have a good quality heavy duty 5" backup. Visit your
local power tool shop for best advice.
After all that, I usually buy the tool that fits my hand most comfortably.
