angle grinder size
Norm: I buy about 10 grinders a year for my masonry restoration business,
and I found that in the US, the most common formats for small grinders are
either the 17mm arbor(with a 4" dia. blade) or 5/8-11 (5/8" arbor dia.-11
threads per inch) with a 4 1/2" inch dia. blade. We always get the 5/8-11
format because the blades are slightly larger, but more importantly, other
grinder blades (carborundum, sink cutout, all-purpose shaping wheels), are
usually set up for the 5/8-11 format. This format gives us much greater
options in choosing alternative wheels or blades for our grinders, and is
much more versatile in comparison to the 17mm/4 inch dia. type of grinder.
Even Home Depot can handle your basic needs in this setup.
Good Luck,
chaz
